# In-house case study: The Last Romantic

The site I built for my own writing life, to the same standard I sell.

The Last Romantic is my essay home: thirty-plus longform pieces across four themed worlds, each with its own designed reading experience. It wraps a hosted newsletter in a fully custom site, so the writing lives on a surface I own, with the same machine-readable layer under it that every client build gets.

## Why it exists

Hosted newsletter platforms are excellent at delivery and terrible at identity: every writer gets the same page. The Last Romantic keeps the delivery rails and replaces the surface with custom typography, essay indexes, four worlds with their own moods, and structured data that lets machines read the catalogue.

## The build, screen by screen

The case page shows the shipped site itself: a browsable gallery of full-viewport screens captured from the live thelastromantic.co, each linking out to the site in a new tab. The capture date is printed on the page and re-verified on every build.
